You Never Can Tell

University of Utah Babcock Theatre, 2018

Originally designed with 5 effects speakers in addition to the mains, this is a stereo mix version of the transition between act one and act two, following narrative of a dental operation, Finch riding a train, and the Waiter setting up lunch. The song was chosen to compliment the mood of the piece as well as remaining true to the period and location of the play.

You Never Can Tell

University of Utah Babcock Theatre, 2018

Also from You Never Can Tell, this is an edit of Holiday Diary by Benjamin Britten which opened the play as well as the top of intermission. This piece was also chosen with time period and composer in mind (most of the show came from British composers). This piece also speaks to the jovial nature of the show, with the unexpected low accents and fast paced running lines.

Three Sisters

University of Utah Studio 110, 2016

All music from this show was selected from traditional Russian music, with this specific song being referenced to in the play as an accordion player playing offstage, which then fades into the main speakers to become the transition music for the scene change.

Numb and Awake

Dark Days 24-hour play festival, 2016

Created for a 24-hour play festival, this project had the theme of isolation. All the music in this piece corresponded to various different movement sections and had a dark and sad underlying tone to them. The piece was also very much set in the now, so I chose music that was contemporary with vocal effects or synths pulling it out of an acoustic realm.

Composition

Ronald & Edith

Virtual Production, 2021

This show is about Tolkein and his wife, as he's creating The Silmarillion. So the instrumentation was very orchestral to create a sense of grandeur and expanse with the sections that stepped out of reality and into the story. This section is the opening of the show fully immersed within the world of the Ronald's imagination.

Ronald & Edith

Virtual Production, 2021

"Farewell Sweet Earth" is a song written about Tinuviel—Ronald's equivalent to Edith within the story. A simple and folk-inspired love song set to lyrics actually from The Silmarillion and sung by Ronald in the show.
